REMASAB, WAPAN Empower Waste Pickers in Northwest Zone with ₦20m

The Managing Director of the Refuse Management and Sanitation Board (REMASAB), Dr. Muhammad S. Khalil, has commended the Waste Pickers Association of Nigeria (WAPAN) for its role in empowering waste pickers through aggregators in the Northwest Zone, with support from Coca-Cola.

Dr. Khalil disclosed that the intervention, which included both cash and in-kind assistance, has a total value of ₦20 million, aimed at strengthening waste management and recycling activities in the zone.

He expressed profound appreciation to the Executive Governor of Kano State, His Excellency, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability and inclusive economic development.

According to him, the initiative will significantly advance recycling efforts, promote the creation of green jobs, and further strengthen the circular economy, in line with the state government’s environmental and economic development objectives.

Dr. Khalil reaffirmed REMASAB’s commitment to partnering with relevant stakeholders to promote sustainable waste management practices across Kano State.
