Northwest University sets up committee to investigate alleged sexual misconduct by staff member

The management of Northwest University Kano (NWUK) has constituted an investigative committee to examine allegations of sexual misconduct involving one of its staff members, Dr. Nasa’i Muhammad Gwadabe.

In a statement issued by the institution which was signed by the Head of the Public Relations Unit Abubakar Ibrahim, the management said it had taken note of a video clip circulating on various social media platforms alleging that Dr. Gwadabe attempted to sexually harass a female student of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN).

The statement added that, the incident was alleged to have taken place at the Old Campus of Bayero University, Kano (BUK).

The university expressed deep concern over the allegations and reassured members of the university community and the general public that it does not condone any form of sexual harassment, abuse, or misconduct by its staff or students, regardless of where such acts are alleged to have occurred.

According to the statement, the investigative committee was established in line with the institution’s commitment to fairness, accountability, and due process.

The committee has been tasked with thoroughly examining the allegations, establishing the facts of the case, and submitting its findings to the university management.

The management emphasized that appropriate action would be taken in accordance with the university’s rules and regulations if the allegations are substantiated following the conclusion of the investigation.

Northwest University Kano further reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct while ensuring that justice is served fairly and transparently.

The university also appealed to the public to remain calm, avoid speculation, and allow the investigative process to run its course.
